Welcome to Hamilton’s Pub
Set on the village green in Geashill, Hamilton’s Pub is part of one of Ireland’s most remarkable heritage villages, often described as among the finest surviving estate villages in the country.
Surrounded by elegant nineteenth-century cottages, mature trees, and the distinctive triangular green that has defined village life here for generations, Hamilton’s sits at the centre of a place shaped by history, conversation, and community. The village itself was developed by the Digby Estate and became known throughout Ireland for its carefully planned layout and architectural character.
Today, that same sense of place remains.
Hamilton’s is a traditional Irish pub with deep local roots, a warm welcome, and an atmosphere that cannot be manufactured. Whether you are dropping in for a quiet pint, meeting friends after work, exploring Offaly’s hidden heritage, or simply escaping the rush of modern life for an hour or two, you will find something authentic here.
There is history in the walls, stories at the counter, and time to talk.
Located between Tullamore and Portarlington, Hamilton’s is an ideal stopping point for visitors exploring the Midlands, the Slieve Bloom region, or the heritage villages of County Offaly.
The village may have changed over the centuries, but the essential rhythm remains the same: good conversation, familiar faces, and the feeling that people still matter here.

About Us
Hamilton’s, Geashill — Est. 1859
This building was constructed in 1859 for £298 12s 11d. It is a protected structure, listed for its architectural significance, and one of the most distinctive premises in the Midlands. Over the generations, it has been a shop, a corner house, a castle inn, and finally Hamilton’s — each name a chapter in a village that has been here long before any of us and will be here long after.
Geashill was named Ireland’s Tidiest Village in 2023. It is that kind of place. Small, proud, and with a strong sense of itself. The pub reflects that.
Today, Hamilton’s is what it has always been: somewhere people come to slow down. The fire is on. The pints are good. Thursday nights, the televisions go down low, and conversation takes over. On the last Saturday of the month, there are traditional musicians in an informal, unannounced setting, and it’s always worth it. The Monday Club has been meeting here for years and shows no sign of stopping.
That continuity is not accidental. It is what this place is.
